- HANDS-ON HUMANEThe Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society Education Department is pleased to offer a new education program in January 2013. Do you have an older child (age 10 – 13) who is keen about animals and for whom you would like to encourage in their knowledge and experience with animals? This may be the club you are looking for!Hands-on Humane Club IS hands-on. The children will be involved with the animals, practicing proper pet care, while discovering other important topics related to pets, other animals, animal welfare organizations, and about some possible compassionate careers. Each session will cover a different topic and involve an interactive lesson, question and answer, animal interaction, and a game and-or group activity. There may be off-site activities and a fund raising event to plan and conduct which will help the animals at the Humane Society.Each club session is a three hour period, 1:00 – 4:00, held on the first Saturday of every month between January and June for a total of six sessions. (Note: The first session will be held on the second Saturday of January in order to accommodate family holiday vacation activities.)Your child will enjoy a fun-filled afternoon each month which will provide a positive influence in your child’s perspective towards caring, and empathy for all living creatures.At the end of the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion at their graduation party.Registration is online.
